Hey guys!
You may remember me from 3 days ago with this thread regarding my YGOPRO Deck website at ygoprodeck.com . Well, the response has been overwhelming and amazing. You have all been fantastic, I didn't realize a website such as this would be in such demand for the community.
I feel like I should update you guys on some changes that has been made to the site since the 3 days it has gone live. I've been working hard on it and taking lots of advice and feedback from you guys and I feel like the site has improved immensely since then, thanks to this fantastic community.
Changes
Added HTTPS (SSL) to the website. I felt like I needed to do this since there was a log on/off feature for the forums and since users could upload and download files. This was pretty tricky for me since it was the first time I've added SSL to a website but I managed it in the end.
Redesigned the homepage/general layout. I changed from a wide layout to a boxed layout and added a grey shade to the background so users focus in on the main site and hopefully have less eye strain. Also created a proper slider image file and I am now using it across the site rather than having completely different image shapes and sizes for each deck submission.
Added 'DevPro User Decks' category. A kind user over at DevPro gave me access to 150+ uploaded DevPro decks for use on the site. Unfortunately this means that there will be no strategy/combo section for these decks. That was the reasoning behind creating a whole new category for it. Eventually, there is going to be a LOT of decks in this section.
Added a 'Latest Revision Date' to the submitted decks so users can now date and check when the deck has been last revised.
Added easy custom avatars for user profiles!
Added caching features to the site. In general the site speed and performance should be a whole lot faster for returning users. My google speed insight score went up about 25 points after adding these options.
Renamed AI decks to Anime decks. I feel like this is more appropriate.
Added 'Decks You May Also Like' section to the bottom of each deck page.
Eventually going to sub-categorize more which I think will help with deck search. Also looking into being able to search by user so you can see what else this particular user has uploaded to the site.
That's basically it now as far as I know! You have all been great guys and I am going to continue working on this site and listening to the community. Thank you to everyone who has submitted a deck and who has offered advice for the site. The work is not done, I will continue at it while juggling my two jobs and time for my family. I love doing this and I hope it will be a continued success with all of you.
